Why You’re Seeing Less East Idaho News on Your Facebook Feed

Your Facebook feed will soon look very different as the platform makes drastic changes.

Last month, Facebook’s parent company Meta announced that the site would be more like TikTok with an algorithmically chosen selection of videos. Content posted by family, friends and groups will be siphoned off into a separate feed as Facebook strives to become a platform for entertainment and shopping.

The company also said it plans to cut funding for publishers and make news a priority, Axios reported. Campbell Brown, vice president of media partnerships at Meta, reportedly told employees that the company was diverting resources from its information products to supporting more creative initiatives.

EastIdahoNews.com regularly posts stories on Facebook to keep you informed. Social media can be an essential tool when children go missing, during community emergencies and when news situations unfold.

Although some national news organizations have paid partnerships with Meta, EastIdahoNews.com has never entered into an agreement with Facebook. We don’t make money on Facebook when we link to stories on our page, but it does help bring users to our website. This, in turn, supports local advertisers, keeping EastIdahoNews.com free for all who visit.

As Facebook no longer prioritizes news, chances are you’ll see fewer of our stories on your feed – but there are a few things you can do to stay connected:

  • Go to the EastIdahoNews.com Facebook page – click on the “Follow” or “Follow” button and change it to “Favorites”. Friends’ posts and pages from your favorites appear more often in your News Feed.
  • Download the free East Idaho News mobile app on Apple and Android. Enable notifications to receive the latest news.
  • Sign up for our daily newsletters.
  • Bookmark EastIdahoNews.com on your phone or desktop browser.

Although Facebook may break with the news, East Idaho News remains committed to bringing you important news and information for East Idaho and beyond.
