by marvel Eternals finally hit theaters this weekend, and it’s … everywhere. More than MCU movies typically are, I mean. Critics who saw the film early on weren’t exactly overly enthusiastic, although they respect the fact that director Chloe Zhao did her best to keep her. Oscar winner leadership while operating within the massive Marvel machine. Our own review thought it was a film that was both incredibly ambitious and also limited by the fact that it was another branch of the ever-evolving MCU mega-franchise. The result was a film widely publicized as the lowest rated MCU movie to date on Rotten Tomatoes at 48%.

He does better with 84% audiences though; or rather, audiences that aren’t just boosting MCU content all the time on Twitter. While viewers also agree that yes, it maybe takes some big swings that seem at odds with how Marvel has worked so far, it has a pretty good cast and is well directed most of the time. The times the movie excels and all of its pieces come together equals the number of times it frustrates because it’s not as weird as it could be and features questionable CGIs or villains who don’t feel like they need to be here for the movie to be successful.

Time will tell if the Eternals take off like other MCU newbies like Shang-Chi Where Elena Belova have in terms of finance. There is no doubt that we will see these characters again, you don’t have two post-credits scenes whether you’re just planning one and you’re done, but in the form of another Disney + movie or series remains to be seen. In the meantime, tell us what you think of the Eternals. Did you fall in love with the film? Did you hate him? Did you also think the movie needed a lot more Don Lee than Gilgamesh?
