This 2022 Nissan Frontier trim might be the best

The 2022 Nissan Frontier is a mid-size truck available in a range of different trim levels. For this reason, drivers buying a new pickup can likely find an option that fits their needs and budget. What may be surprising is that for most buyers, the top-of-the-line Frontier may not be necessary. Especially for those who don’t plan on regularly going off-road with their truck. In our opinion, one of the best Frontier builds available is the SV set, which is a step above the base build.

What is the Nissan Frontier SV?

The 2022 Frontier SV is a step above the base model Nissan Frontier. It can be equipped with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, making it ideal for filling a variety of automotive roles. It is also available with a longer bed, which is perfect for drivers who plan to carry longer gear, equipment or other things.

Like all Frontier models, it comes standard with a 3.8-liter V6 engine. With this powertrain, owners will enjoy 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. Which will probably be enough for most driving situations. It should also be noted that when properly equipped, the Frontier SV can tow up to 6,670 lbs and haul up to 1,610 lbs, giving this truck great usability.

How Much Does the 2022 Frontier SV Pickup Cost?

In terms of cost, the Frontier SV has a starting MSRP of $31,390. And while it’s not as cheap as a Ford Maverick, it’s cheaper than the Frontier PRO-4X. We think that price is fair for what you get with the Frontier, and that doesn’t necessarily mean having to break the bank to buy a new truck.

As you add various options or opt for a different configuration of the SV trim, the price will change accordingly. When equipped with a crew cab, 4WD and a long bed, the Frontier SV costs $37,690, less than $1,000 less than the most expensive Frontier truck.

Is the Frontier worth buying?

After what felt like an eternity, the Frontier is finally in a new generation and we think it’s worth buying. Although Car and Driver notes that the frame is still the same as previous Frontier models, it has revised suspension, a standard V6 engine and styling upgrades. Because of this, you won’t be buying a mid-size truck that’s been pretty much the same for over a decade.

With the SV trim, buyers get more standard features than the base Frontier S. Additionally, packages are available to add things like adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring. A trailer hitch and spray-on bedliner can also be added if you prefer, but note that this will all add to the bottom line of this midsize truck. Nevertheless, if you plan to use your Nissan truck, it will make your life easier. Especially when it comes time to tow or tow with your 2022 Nissan Frontier SV.
