We have nine main lines star wars movies to watch whenever we want at this point, and even further beyond– but there is always something oddly captivating about the power of a good star wars trailer. We remember times like the force awakens‘”Chewie, we’re home,” or the infamous phantom menace teasing. It is therefore perhaps logical that the new Lego Star Wars the game pays homage to this with its own twist.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, out this weekis the first Lego star wars game to be released later The Rise of Skywalker‘s, so this is the first time that one of them has been able to make a definitive hold on the whole main line star wars trilogy of trilogies. It’s a love letter to everything, it doesn’t matter which ones you like more than the others, and he wants you to know that from the first time you start the game. Because every time you doyou are entitled to what might be one of the coolest star wars trailers:

It’s a really fun idea to connect the three star wars trilogies through the swings of lightsabers, cutting from Rey on Ahch-To in The Empire Strikes Backlegendary duel; Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, and Maul battle Naboo; and even Finn fighting against his former Stormtrooper allies in the force awakens. And, of course, using the music from the trailer for this main finale Force awakens trailer so is always good to send a star wars cool your spine.

But what makes it really work, beyond clear love for all iterations of star warsit’s that he doesn’t forget either that it’s Lego star wars, so between trying to be big and interconnected across all the movies, there’s still room for silly little details. Chewie throwing a cookie at Luke while he practiced, Luke’s eldest literally dancing around Kylo Ren on Crait, it’s the perfect mishmash of this star wars is at its best. star wars is epic and awesome, but it’s also deeply silly and fun, and it’s always these things in tandem.

skywalker saga taking himself just seriously enough to present this vast tapestry of heroes and villains, tying his story together across generations, in such a sentimental, yet do not taking him too seriously and poking fun a bit at his pomp and circumstances along the way, is perhaps the best way to show how much he loves star wars. And it’s only in the first minutes before the the real fun begins.
