Tata Tiago EV vs. MG Air EV

The electric vehicle segment in India is witnessing a steady increase. Most brands aim to bring cutting-edge electric vehicles to our market, while some have already started the cycle. However, the main obstacle to electric vehicles in India must be their high price. Luckily, some brands are also working to provide affordable options. Two such EVs that we have extensively covered are the upcoming Tata Tiago EV and the MG Air EV. So which one to expect? In today’s article, let’s compare Tata Tiago EV to MG Air EV.

Design

Let’s talk about the Tiago EV first. The Tiago EV had been a long time coming, and Tata finally made the big announcement on ‘World Electric Vehicle Day’ this month. This electric car would come with a few things that will clearly highlight its EV nature. EV badges on the car, blue highlights and a closed grille will be some of the highlights.

Tiago EV vs. Air EV

The Air EV would be radically different from the Tiago EV. It’s quite different from any car we see in India. It’s basically a Kei car, but electric. The Air EV is an original car with DRLs on the hood. From the side, you can see that it only has two doors, which is another unique aspect.

Tiago EV vs Air EV – Interior and Features

The regular Tiago comes with a clean dashboard layout with an integrated infotainment system. The rest of the dashboard is clean with minimal distractions. Tiago EV might get blue highlights here and there. In terms of features, it could get a cooled glove box, keyless entry, rear camera, 7.0-inch Harman infotainment system, eight-speaker audio system, and phone connectivity. Interestingly, the Tiago EV will come with premium leatherette seats which will enhance its premium quotient. Cruise control and multi-regeneration modes would also be offered.

Tiago EV vs. Air EV

For such a small car, the Air EV’s interiors pack a punch. A 10.25-inch floating infotainment system paired with a similarly sized dash should be available in the cabin. The center console will also feature a rotary gear selector and an electronic parking brake.

Features

Tiago EV vs. Air EV

Tata has been quite tight-lipped about the specs of the Tiago EV. However, it should share its specs with the Tigor EV. The electric compact sedan comes with a 55 kW motor coupled to a 26 kWh battery. What about the range? It gets a claimed range of 306 km. We can expect similar configuration and figures for the Tiago EV.

Overall, the MG Air EV comes with two engine and range options; a 30 kW motor and a 50 kW motor with two range options – a standard 200 km and an extended 300 km. With this range, the Air EV could become a perfect city car.
