RSS Guard is a simple (but powerful) feed reader. It is able to retrieve the most popular feed formats, including RSS/RDF and ATOM. It’s free, it’s open-source. RSS Guard currently supports Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, and Italian. RSS Guard will never depend on other services – this includes online news aggregators like Feedly, The Old Reader and others.

RSS Guard is developed on the Qt library and supports these operating systems:

  • xBSD (eventually)
  • Android (possibly)
  • other platforms supported by Qt

Added

  • Smart and user-friendly two-way synchronization of articles is now also supported in the TT-RSS plugin. Note that the “api_newsplus” plugin must be installed on your TT-RSS instance. (#339)

  • The Mac OS X version of RSS Guard now supports the “arm64 Apple Silicon” architecture. (#758)

  • The Google Reader API plugin now supports Miniflux. (#780)

  • Full drag and drop/rearrange/sort categories feed. The behavior is different depending on whether “alphabetical sorting” is activated or not. (f63af3a)

  • Official Windows and Linux packages now use Qt 6.3.1 or newer. However, Qt 5.15 is still supported.

Fixed

  • Handling of CLI settings has been improved in several places in the app. This fixes calling external browsers etc. (#748)
  • The tray icon sometimes reported the wrong number of new/unread articles. (#754)
  • The app should better handle pinned shortcuts on Windows and allow it to re-open the existing main window of the running RSS Guard instance. (#773)
  • The application sometimes generated empty OPML files. (#774)
  • Item list columns were sometimes being erroneously reset to their default state. (#778)
  • Fixed icon validation for Flatpak version. (#782)
  • Improved “nudux-*” skin. (#783)
  • Stream sort mode/order is now correctly persisted in all cases. (#784)
  • Image handling in the non-Web Engine article viewer is now better. (#785)
  • Better MinGW compatibility when compiling RSS Guard.
  • Synchronized translations.
  • Documents updated.
  • Specific error strings are now properly propagated to feed tooltips so the user can see specific error messages for feeds.
  • Article content layout is now greatly improved as the content is automatically converted to HTML when displayed.
  • Better management of the date/time of incoming emails in the Gmail plugin.
