Film producer Ronnie Screwvala announced his upcoming home production film ” Kakuda ” on Tuesday, starring Sonakshi Sinha, Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem.
The horror comedy began filming on Tuesday and will be filmed in various parts of Gujarat, according to a press release from the directors.
The film will mark the directorial debut in Hindi of filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar, known for her critically acclaimed Marathi films âClassmatesâ, âMauliâ and âFaster Fineâ.
” Kakuda ” explores the legend of a strange curse in a village stuck in time and how three people are confronted by a difficult ghost who makes them question superstition, tradition and love on a mountain tour Russians filled with fear and pleasure. âWith a clear focus on local ideas and development, I am delighted to announce our horror comedy ‘Kakuda’. With a solid script, an extremely talented cast and a motivated director, we hope to push the boundaries of the genre, ” Screwvala said in a statement.
Sinha, 34, believes the horror comedy will be a perfect treat for viewers amid the coronavirus pandemic.
âGiven the current situation, a fun comedy movie is really in need of the hour. I loved the script for ‘Kakuda’ as soon as I read it. This is the kind of movie that I would like to watch as an audience, âshe added.
The film was written by Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg and was developed from a nascent scene by Salona Bains Joshi, the film’s associate producer. Sarpotdar hopes the film will entertain audiences with its perfect script and cast.
We are treating the film as nothing less than a large-scale commercial film. The casting was just perfect and the story will put you both on the edge of your seat and in partings, âthe director said.
Deshmukh said that ” Kakuda ” allows him to explore a new genre.
I can’t wait to get started and work on the film with Sonakshi and Saqib. Personally, I love the horror comedy genre and ‘Kakuda’ is a great opportunity for me to explore the role of a ghost hunter, ” the 42-year-old actor said.
Saleem said the horror comedy would be a fun run because it has the perfect combination of an “excellent script, a gifted director, a supporting producer and extremely talented co-stars.”
” Kakuda ” will be released digitally in 2022. The creators have yet to announce a streaming platform for the film.
