This is Michelle Yeoh’s world, we live in it. Netflix has confirmed that the Star Trek: Discovery the actress was chosen for one of the main roles of that of the witcher limited prequel series, The Witcher: Origin of Blood, playing an elf whose dangerous quest could change the continent as we know it.

In an emailed press release, Netflix announced that Yeoh will be playing Scían in The Witcher: Origin of Blood. She joins the previously announced Laurence O’Fuarian as Warrior Fjall, and, presumably the currently unannounced replacement for Jodie Turner-Smith, who was cast for the lead role of Eile, following her departure from production due to scheduling conflicts earlier this year. The six-part prequel, which takes place 1,200 years before the events of The witcher, tells the story of the first witcher and the events that led to the “conjunction of the spheres”. According to the character description, Yeoh’s Scían will play the last sword elf of his tribe, who goes on a mission to recover a stolen weapon of great value to his community. Here is the description:

Scían is the newest of her nomadic sword-elf tribe. No one can approach their art with the blade, and no one carries so much loss in their heart. When the chance presents itself to recover a stolen sacred sword, taken from her fallen tribe by nefarious means, she sets out on a deadly quest that will change the outcome of the continent.

Origin of blood executive producer and Witcher Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich commented on the cast via social media, echoing all of our sentiments:

This is the latest in a series of fantastic roles for the equally fantastic actress. Yeoh has been a staple in key sci-fi and fantasy sagas lately, including Georgiou’s role in Star Trek: Discovery-a role that was supposed to lead to a Article 31 spin-off, although this show was put on hold for the time being. She is also set to appear in the next Marvel movie. Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings, as well as a recurring role in James Cameron Avatar suites (which are all it’s still happening totally).

The Witcher: Origin of Blood is a new story in the world of The witcher be crossed out by The witcher and Iron fist writer Declan de Barra, with the aforementioned Schmidt Hissrich as executive producer and novelist Andrzej Sapkowski as creative consultant.
