Here are all the changes to Apple Podcasts in 2023 for creators:

  • Removed support for “owner tag” and its contact details in the podcast’s RSS feed such as the creators’ email addresses. This will reduce the number of spam emails received by creators. Instead, the company will ask them to submit shows through their Apple ID.

The owner tag () and their contact details, including email address, will no longer be recommended. Apple requires creators to have an active Apple ID to submit a show, and designated users with an administrator role in Apple Podcasts Connect will be contacted using the email associated with their Apple ID if necessary. Creators can also add an email address for each show in Apple Podcasts Connect.

  • Adds GUID support (globally unique identifier) ​​for the RSS feed. Creator hosting providers must generate unique GUID tags for each episode of their shows for Apple Podcasts to process new content, as duplicate GUIDs will not be processed.
  • Removes support for Atom feeds for new shows and remaining shows will not be updated.
